Texas Sweeps LSU in SEC Dual; Jillian Cox, Emma Sticklen Pop School Records

Texas Sweeps LSU in SEC Dual Behind Jillian Cox, Hubert Kos

The University of Texas Longhorns swept LSU in an SEC dual on Friday.

The Texas women won 184-116 and the men won 198-102.

Texas’ Emma Kern, Piper Enge, Emma Sticklen and Ava Longi won the 200 medley relay in 1:36.24 to kick off the met.

Kern won the 100 backstroke (51.49) and 200 backstroke (1:54.20). Enge won the 100 breaststroke (59.67). Sticklen won the 200 butterfly (1:49.77) and 100 fly (50.23), with her mark in the 200 butterfly setting a school record and making clear her intentions to claim another NCAA title in the event.

Jillian Cox won the 1000 freestyle in 9:25.88 and 500 free in 4:39.78, her time in the longer event establishing a school record. Angie Coe won the 200 free in 1:45.63 and 200 IM in 1:55.93.

LSU’s Grace Palmer won the 200 breaststroke (2:09.12).

Hailey Hernandez won 1-meter diving with a 317.48 ahead of LSU’s Montserrat Lavenant (307.88). Lavenant won 3-meter diving (358.95).

Longi, Sticklen, Abigail Arens and Cooper won the 400 free relay (3:14.50).

LSU’s Michaela De Villiers won the 50 freestyle in 22.38, ahead of Grace Cooper (22.52). De Villiers also won the 100 free in 49.03 as Cooper and Longi tied for second at 49.57.

Despite falling in both dual meets in team finishes, LSU saw some massive success individually with freshman Nicole Santuliana breaking two school records in her first meet. In the distance events, she finished third in the 1000-yard free with a time of 9:39.52 and second in the 500-yard free with a time of 4:40.85. In the 1000-free, Santuliana broke the 22-year-old record, previously held by Stephanie Smith (9:50.51).
She broke Megan Barnes’ 500-free time that was established in 2024 at the NCAA Championship meet.

In the men’s meet, Luke Hobson and Coby Carrozza went 1-2 in the 200 free with Hobson finishing in 1:33.92 and Corrozza in 1:35.62.

Hubert Kos won the 100 backstroke in 45.54, going 1-2 with Will Modglin (45.87). Kos (1:41.09) and Modglin (1:42.46) went 1-2 in the 200 backstroke.

Texas’ Rex Maurer won the 1000 free in 8:45.26 and 500 free (4:14.58). Nick Harris won 1-meter diving with 390.90 points and 3-meter (405.98). Will Scholtz won the 200 breaststroke (1:55.70) ahead of Nate Germonprez (1:56.01). Germonprez won the 200 IM (1:46.38).

Modglin, Camden Taylor, Maurer and Hobson won the 400 free relay (2:51.37).

The Tigers’ 400-yard free relay team of Andrew Garon, Jere Hribar, Stepan Goncharov and Griffin Curtis broke the school mark with a time of 2:51.58.

LSU’s Stepan Goncharov, Mitch Mason, Pawel Uryniuk and Jere Hribar won the 200 medley relay (1:24.34).

Mason won the 100 breaststroke in 53.12. Hribar won the 50 free (10.46) ahead of Concharov (20.10) and the 100 free (43.12) ahead of Hobson (43.34). Jacob Pishko won the 200 butterfly (1:43.55).
