Texas Strikes Gold With Verbal From Garrett Gould

NEW COMMIT: The University of Texas has added yet another impressive verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier Garrett Gould of Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

He will join Tyler Quarterman, Landon D’ArianoMax HatcherKyle PeckJeremy KellyLuke StibrichBrayden Taivassalo and Cooper Lucas as a member of the Longhorns’ Class of 2028.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m honored to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Texas to continue my academic and athletic career. I’d like to thank Coaches Eddie and Wyatt for this amazing opportunity, as well the incredible support of my family, friends, teachers and coaches who have helped me thus far. Hook ‘em!”

Gould does his club swimming with Greater Somerset County YMCA and last competed at YMCA Nationals in April where he earned six best times and gabbed the bronze medal in the 100 fly. Last summer, he finished third in the 100m fly at YMCA LCM Nationals before racing two events at Junior Nationals.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 20.34
  • 100 free – 43.88
  • 100 back – 47.84
  • 100 fly – 47.79
  • 200 back – 1:46.20

A rising senior at Ridge High School, Gould earned silver in the 100 free and bronze in the 50 free at the 2023 New Jersey Meet of Champions. He took fourth in both the 100 fly and 100 back during his sophomore season.
