Texas 6A State Champion Emma Stephenson Gives Verbal to Aggies
NEW COMMIT: Sprinter Emma Stephenson has given her verbal commitment to Texas A&M University as part of the class of 2023. The Houston, Texas native will stay in-state and join the Aggies in the fall of 2019.
Stephenson swims year-round with Dads Club Swim Team and is a four-time Winter Junior National qualifier with a US Open qualifying time in the 100 fly. Competing for Stratford High School where she is a rising senior, Stephenson won the 50 free (23.04) at this year’s Texas UIL 6A State Meet. She won the 100 fly title in 2016 as a freshman.
She told Swimming World,
“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and continue my education at Texas A&M University! A huge thanks goes out to my coaches, family and friends that have supported me through the process. I’m so grateful for this opportunity and I can’t wait to be part of such an amazing team!! Gig’em!”
Her best times include:
- 50 Free – 23.04
- 100 Free – 50.09
- 100 Back – 55.41
- 100 Fly – 53.02
- 200 Fly – 2:00.93
She will make an immediate impact for the Aggies when she arrives on campus next fall. Her best time in the 100 fly would’ve placed her 12th at this year’s SEC Championships just ahead of Taylor Pike, who will still have two seasons left when Stephenson arrives on campus.
