Texas Sizzles in Intrasquad, Fast Times from Hubert Kos, Luke Hobson, Erin Gemmell

The University of Texas hosted its annual intrasquad scrimmage, now dubbed the Sam Kendricks Memorial Orange and White Classic where the orange faced off against the white, in the first meet of the Bob Bowman era in Austin.

In the men’s meet, the white won 151.5-142.5.

The meet started with Hubert Kos, Nate Germonprez, Aaron Shackell and Camden Taylor going 1:24.58 in the 200 medley relay.

David Johnston won the 1000 free in 8:55.35 for the white.

The orange struck back with a 1:33.99 from Luke Hobson in the 200 free.

Kos then won his first individual race as a member of the Longhorns with a 45.48 showing in the 100 backstroke for the white. He then won the 200 back in 1:40.61.

Germonprez then won the 100 breaststroke in 52.43 and 200 breaststroke in 1:55.02. He also won the 200 IM in 1:43.32, just ahead of Kos.

Cooper Lucas went a 1:44.78 just ahead of orange teammate Ryan Branon (1:45.55) in the 200 butterfly. Branon won the 100 fly (47.48). Garrett Gould won the 50 free for the orange in 20.11. The 100 free went to Camden Taylor of the white in 43.19. Rex Mauer won the 500 free in 4:14.19. Tanner Brunton won the 3-meter diving with a score of 399.00 for the white. The 1-meter diving went to Nick Harris of the orange with 401.85.

In the Texas women’s meet, the orange won 147.5-131.5.

The 200 medley relay went to Emma Kern, Abby Arens, Campbell Stoll and Grace Cooper (1:38.71).

Jillian Cox wins the 100 free for the orange with a time of 9:46.38, ahead of Kate Hurst (9:47.96). Cox also won the 500 free in 4:49.01.

Erin Gemmell won the 200 free in 1:46.41 just ahead of Lillie Nesty (1:47.67). Gemmell also won the 100 free in 49.70 for the Texas white. Nesty won the 200 back in 1:59.90 for the orange.

Emma Kern won the 100 backstroke in 53.48. Piper Enge won the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.07 and 200 breast in 2:15.06.

Stoll won the 200 fly in 1:56.65 and 200 IM (2:01.05). Arens won the 100 fly in 53.10.

Cooper and Ava Longi tied in the 50 free at 23.05.

Bayleigh Cranford won 3-meter diving for the white with 348.60 points. Hailey Hernandez won the 1-meter with 328.2.

Emma Sticklen, Longi, Angie Coe and Gemmell won the 400 free relay in 3:19.16 to close the Texas meet.
