Victoria Edwards has given her verbal commitment to the Texas Longhorns. The impressive backstroke/butterflier will be spending her college career in familiar territory. She currently swims for Longhorn Aquatics and attends Westlake High School in Austin.
Edwards’ best times:
50/100/200 Backstroke: 25.05/53.90/1:57.79
50/100/200 Butterfly: 26.56/52.74/1:56.08
The three event Olympic Trials qualifier is joining an impressive University of Texas squad. At last season’s Big 12 Championships, the Longhorn women walked away with a margin of victory of nearly 400 points. Edwards could have won the 200 butterfly at the 2016 Conference meet. She also would have been an A finalist in the 200 backstroke, 100 butterfly, and 100 backstroke.
Edwards could become a point scorer at the NCAA level as well. At the 2016 meet her lifetime best in the 200 butterfly would have made her the second alternate.
Edwards has had success at the high school level as well at the incredibly competitive Texas 6A meet. Last year Westlake took home the state title and Edwards notched an individual win as well. She was also instrumental in two gold medal earning relays.
