NEW COMMIT: The Longhorns have officially entered the class of 2025 recruiting game by scoring a verbal commitment from arguably the most sought-out recruit in his year. Anthony Grimm of Fairfax, Va, will arrive in Austin for the 2021-22 season.

Grimm, who owns the fastest times in his class in the 50 free, 100 back, and 100 breast, does his club swimming with Mason Makos Swim Team and has already achieved the Olympic Trials cut in the 100m back. He recorded three best times at Phillips 66 Nationals this past summer and earned two golds at the 2018 ISCA Summer Seniors. Grimm placed 12th in the 100 back and 24th in the 100 fly at Winter Nationals before going on to win the 100 back, 50 breast, 100 breast, and 50 fly at the NCSA Championships in March.

A current junior at Oakton High School, Grimm is a three-time Virginia 6A State Championship finalist and led his team to the state title last season. The NISCA All-American won the 50 free as a sophomore after taking first in the 100 back and second in the 100 fly during his freshman season. An incredibly versatile swimmer, his time in the 50 free also set a new 6A record and he was part of two winning relays in 2019.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 19.67
  • 50 free – 19.28 (relay split)
  • 100 free – 47.59
  • 200 free – 1:47.87
  • 50 back – 20.87
  • 100 back – 45.60
  • 200 back – 1:51.61
  • 100 breast – 52.51
  • 200 breast – 2:03.96
  • 100 fly – 47.40
  • 200 fly – 1:58.36
  • 200 IM – 1:52.59

Grimm will make an immediate impact for the Longhorns both individually and on relays. His best times in the 100 back and 100 breast would’ve qualified for the 2019 NCAA Championships based on the invite times, and he would’ve finished 21st and 20th, respectively, in those events at NCAAs where Texas was the team runner-up.
