Texas Longhorns Keep Versatile Luke Stibrich In State For 2024
NEW COMMIT: The University of Texas has kept a big recruit in the Lone Star State for 2024-25 as Luke Stibrich of Hubmle, Texas, has pledged his verbal commitment.
He will join Brayden Taivassalo and Cooper Lucas as a member of the Longhorns’ Class of 2028.
He told Swimming World:
“I’m super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Texas at Austin! I’d like to thank everyone who’s been a part of my journey and a special thanks to Coach Wyatt and Coach Eddie for giving me this opportunity. Hook ‘em”
A versatile swimmer, Stibrich does his club swimming with Blue Tide Aquatics. Last December, he placed ninth in the 400 IM and 15th in the 200 back at Juniors West before going on to take seventh in the 200 back at College Station Sectionals. This past summer, he earned three best times at Junior Nationals.
His best times include:
- 200 IM – 1:47.74
- 400 IM – 3:49.91
- 200 free – 1:38.62
- 500 free – 4:28.10
- 200 back – 1:47.61
- 200 breast – 2:01.81
- 200 fly – 1:49.65
Currently a junior at Summer Creek High School, Stibrich raced to third in the 200 IM and seventh in the 500 free at the 2022 Texas UIL 6A State Championships. He finished ninth and 12th, respectively, in those events during his rookie season.
