OVERLAND PARK, KS – 2-time NCAA Diver of the Year and All-American Vera Ilyina (Moscow, RUSSIA) of the University of Texas has been selected as a recipient of an 1998 NCAA Today’s Top Eight Award, as announced by the NCAA Honors Committee. This prestigious award honors a total of eight distinguished student-athletes from the preceding calendar year for achievement in athletics, academics and leadership. The eight winners are selected from all NCAA-sponsored men’s and women’s sports, with candidates from all three NCAA Divisions (I, II and III). Today’s Top Eight recipients will be recognized at the NCAA annual honors dinner held on Sunday, January 10, 1999 during the NCAA Convention in San Antonio, Texas.
