University of Texas junior Laura Wilkinson, the defending NCAA platform diving champion and an eight-time All-American, has announced that she will forego her final year of collegiate athletic eligibility and will turn professional. Wilkinson recently signed with Gold Medal Management, based in Colorado. She will concentrate her diving training with coach Ken Armstrong at The Woodlands Aquatics in The Woodlands, Texas. One of the nation’s top divers in both international and collegiate competition, Wilkinson was the 1998 Goodwill Games 10-meter platform diving champion and the NCAA platform diving champion in 1997 and 1999.
