Texas A&M Aggies Secure 2021 In-State Verbal from Backstroker Meredith Brown
NEW COMMIT: Texas A&M University has picked up a new in-state verbal commitment for the class of 2025 from backstroker Meredith Brown of Sugar Land, Texas.
She will join fellow Texas natives Shannon Bagnal and Sarah Holt in College Station at the start of the 2021-22 season.
She told Swimming World:
“I’m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to swim at Texas A&M University! I couldn’t be more thankful for my coaches, family, and friends for helping make this possible. I’m so excited to be a part of the impressive program that Coach Bultman has built. Gig ‘em!!”
A talented backstroker, Brown does her club swimming with First Colony Swim Team and owns the U.S. Open cut in the 100 back. She most recently raced to 10th in the 100 back at College Station Sectionals after finaling in that event at Juniors West in December. Last summer, she finished 12th in the 100m back at Des Moines Futures.
Her best times include:
- 50 back – 26.40
- 100 back – 54.59
- 200 back – 2:02.42
- 50 free – 23.12
- 100 free – 51.57
Also competing for Clements High School, Brown competed at the UIL Texas 6A State Championships in 2018 and 2019. She earned bronze in the 100 back and took sixth in the 50 free during her sophomore season.
When she suits up for the Aggies next year, Brown will add her talents to a backstroke training group led by Emma Carlton and Grace Wey. Under head coach Steve Bultman, Texas A&M finished sixth overall in the team standings at the 2020 SEC Championships.
