NEW COMMIT: Texas A&M University has kept Jacob DeLagerheim of Mansfield, Texas, in-state for his college career as he announced his verbal commitment on College Swimming.

He is the Aggies’ seventh verbal pledge for their Class of 2025, and all of them hail from Texas: Noah Beladi, Clayton Conklin, Seth Reno, Trey Dickey, Munzy Kabbara and Tyler Hulet will join DeLagerheim in College Station.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am extremely excited and honored to announce my commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at Texas A&M University in Fall of 2021. I would like to thank my family, friends, teammates, and my coaches for their love and support throughout this journey. Excited to be an Aggie! Gig ‘em!”

A talented freestyler, DeLagerheim trains year-round with Mansfield Aquatic Club and owns the U.S. Open cut in the 500 free. He most recently finished 11th in the 500 free, 16th in the 400m free, and 18th in the 1500m free at College Station Sectionals in March.

Last summer, he placed 24th in the 1500m free at Austin Sectionals before going on to record six best times at the American Long Course Championships.

His best times include:

  • 200 free – 1:40.56
  • 500 free – 4:28.43
  • 1650 free – 15:59.58
  • 200 fly – 1:52.05
  • 400 IM – 4:05.98

Also competing for Mansfield High School, he finished 14th in the 500 free and 16th in the 200 free as a junior at the Texas 6A State Championships. DeLagerheim collected the bronze medal in both of those events at the UIL 6A Region 01 Championships two weeks prior.

Under head coach Jay Holmes, Texas A&M finished second overall in the team standings at the 2020 SEC Championships.
