Texas 6A State Finalist Eddie Jin Sends Verbal to North Carolina

NEW COMMIT: Kingwood, Texas native Eddie Jin has announced his verbal commitment to the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill beginning in the 2024-25 season.

He will join Nate Hohm in Chapel Hill as a member of the Tar Heels’ Class of 2028.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m extremely grateful and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I would like to thank my friends, family, coaches and teammates for helping me get to where I am today. Lastly, a huge thanks to the @uncswimdive coaching staff for giving me this amazing opportunity. Go Heels!”

Jin does his club swimming with Blue Tide Aquatics and was the runner-up in the 200 back at College Station Sectionals back in March where he also won the B-final of the 100 back. He placed 20th in the 200 back at Juniors West in December, too.

His best times include:

50 free – 20.53
100 free – 44.82
200 free – 1:38.52
100 back – 49.41
200 back – 1:46.45
100 fly – 50.23
200 IM – 1:51.77

A rising senior at Kingwood High School, Jin raced to fifth in the 200 free and sixth in the 100 free at the 2023 Texas 6A State Championships. He placed fourth in the 200 free and 11th in the 100 back during his sophomore season.
