Texas 6A Runner-Up Danny Bishop Verbals To Virginia Tech
NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Danny Bishop of Austin, Texas, has announced his verbal commitment to Virginia Tech and will arrive in Blacksburg in the fall of 2024.
He told Swimming World:
“I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Virginia Tech. I want to thank my family, friends, teammates and coaches who have helped me along the way. I also want to thank Coach Sergio, Coach Albert, and the rest of the VT coaching staff for giving me this amazing opportunity. Go Hokies!”
Bishop trains year-round with Nitro Swimming and most recently earned seven best times at College Station Sectionals, highlighted by a sixth place finish in the 200 IM. He competed at Juniors West back in December and was a finalist at College Station Futures last summer.
His best times include:
- 100 free – 45.72
- 200 free – 1:37.96
- 500 free – 4:32.27
- 200 back – 1:49.93
- 200 IM – 1:51.46
- 400 IM – 3:59.35
Currently a junior at Vandegrift High School, Bishop was the runner-up in the 200 free and placed 11th in the 500 free at the 2023 Texas UIL 6A State Championships.
