NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Jake Litchfield of Fulshear, Texas, has decided to remain in the Lone Star State for his college career after committing to Texas Christian University beginning in the fall of 2021.

He told Swimming World:

“I am excited to announce my commitment to swim and study at Texas Christian University. The combination of the small school feel and big school athletics are a perfect fit for me, and I am grateful for the chance to swim for Coach Goodrich and the Frogs. I would like to thank my parents, my brother Brady, my friends, and my coaches, especially my high school coach, Matthew Tomas, for helping me achieve my dream of swimming in college. Can’t wait to get started! #gofrogs”

Litchfield, who now swims for Fulshear Racing Swim Team, is a talented sprint freestyler who placed fifth in the 50m free at College Station Sectionals in February. He notched a best time at Juniors West last December and grabbed gold in the 50m free, as well as silver in the 50m fly, at the Gulf Summer Champs in Summer 2019.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 20.60
  • 100 free – 46.33
  • 50m free – 24.00
  • 100m free – 54.08

Also competing for Fulshear High School, Litchfield was the runner-up in the 50 free and placed seventh in the 100 free as a junior at the Texas 5A State Championships. He has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts in the pool and in the classroom.

Litchfield has improved tremendously over the last two years, dropping three seconds from his 50 free and seven seconds off his 100 free. Under head coach James Winchester, the Horned Frogs finished third overall in the team standings at the 2020 Big 12 Championships.
