Tes Schouten Sets Dutch 200 Breaststroke Record In Rotterdam Prelims
Tes Schouten set a Dutch 200m breaststroke record of 2:23.93 in the day two prelims of the Rotterdam Qualification Meet.
The 21-year-old, who won bronze with the women’s medley relay at the European Championships in Rome in August, sliced 2.20secs off her previous record of 2:26.13 set in February 2022 in Amsterdam.
Schouten went out in 32.54 – the only sub-33 first 50 of the field – and split 1:09/29/1:46.71 before coming home in 37.22 to book lane four for Friday’s final.
Commonwealth bronze medallist Kaylene Corbett posted the second-fastest qualification time of 2:26.32.
Schouten also set a new 100 mark last month of 1:06.88 while the 50 record of 30.38 has stood to Moniek Nijhuis since the 2009 World Championships at the height of the shiny-suit era.
