NEW COMMIT: Indiana University has received a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season from 10-time Guyanese National Record Holder Raekwon Noel, who lives in Blackwood, New Jersey. His home nation is Guayana.

He represented his country at the 2021 Short Course World Championship and the 2022 FINA World Junior Championships.

He told Swimming World:

“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to Indiana University to further my academic and athletic careers. Competing at divison 1 has always been a dream of mine. Thank you to God, my mom, my dad and grandparents for helping me get to this point. Also thank you to Coach Luke for believing in me. Thank you also to SJAC Coaching staff and Coach Jaime for helping me along my swimming career. Go Hoosiers!”

At the Republic Anniversary Swim Meet back in February, Noel broke Guyanese national records and now owns 10 overall.

He’s also a five-time CARIFTA champion and owns several CARIFTA regional records. He recently won five gold medals, set four new national records and broke two CARIFTA records at the CARIFTA Aquatic Championships in April.

While in the United States, Noel trains with South Jersey Aquatic Club and is a junior at Highland Regional High School. He earned bronze in both the 100 back and 100 breast at the New Jersey Meet of Champions.

He’ll join Ian Everett in Bloomington has a member of the Hoosiers’ Class of 2028.
