Teen Star Summer McIntosh Talks Sensational Summer on Inside with Brett Hawke Podcast (Video)

A summer of nonstop action just wrapped up, and a theme over the past few months has been youthful talent. Around the world, several rising stars have emerged as major players in the sport and have the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris targeted. As difficult as it is to believe, the Paris Games are less than two years away.

One of the premier names in the sport is Summer McIntosh, the 16-year-old standout from Canada who enjoyed spectacular performances at the World Championships and Commonwealth Games. In a live interview that aired today (Sept. 7), McIntosh joined the Inside with Brett Hawke Podcast and discussed a variety of topics concerning her career. During a chat that lasted a little less than an hour, McIntosh spoke about her progressions, her performances over the summer and what awaits. As is the case with Romanian star David Popovici, McIntosh’s maturity shines through.

At the World Championships in Budapest, McIntosh captured gold medals in the 400 individual medley and 200 butterfly, and was the silver medalist in the 400 freestyle, placing behind Katie Ledecky. She followed that showing by winning the 200 individual medley and 400 IM at the Commonwealth Games, where she was the silver medalist in the 400 freestyle behind Ariarne Titmus.

A two-time Australian Olympian, Hawke has crafted a superb podcast that has routinely attracted the biggest names in the sport – past and present. In addition to recent interviews with surging teens Popovici and McIntosh, guests have included Adam Peaty, Ian Thorpe, Alexander Popov, Grant Hackett and many more.
