Teen Star Alex Shackell Breaks Down Sensational Summer With Social Kick Podcast
A standout for the legendary Carmel club and high school programs, high school star Alex Shackell recently paid a visit to the Social Kick Podcast to discuss her spectacular summer. Shackell left the Olympic Games in Paris with a pair of medals. She earned a gold medal in the 400-meter medley relay, where she handled the butterfly leg during the preliminary heats. She also secured a silver medal in the 800 freestyle relay, again thanks to her prelims efforts.
In the 200 butterfly, Shackell produced a sixth-place finish in the first Olympic final of her career. The 17-year-old figures to be a key contributor for Team USA into the future and has already garnered significant experience on the international stage. Prior to competing at the Olympic Games, Shackell was a member of the United States squad at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka.
During her interview with the Social Kick Podcast team, which consists of Bryan Lundquist, Luke Paddington and John Mullen, Shackell discussed her Olympic experience in the French capital, and also revisited her approach to the United States Olympic Trials, which were held in her home state of Indiana.
Shackell hails from a family with a rich swimming tradition and she was joined on the U.S. Olympic Team by her older brother, Aaron, who advanced to the final of the 400 freestyle at the Games.
