Women’s 200 Back
One night after upsetting world-record holder Sarah Sjostrom, Canada’s Taylor Ruck blasted a world best time in finals of the women’s 200 back. The 17-year-old jumped to an early lead in the race and never let go, powering to a dominating time of 2:06.36. Her time blasts past the world leading time of 2:07.47, set by fellow Canadian Kylie Masse at the Uster International meet.
Italy’s Federica Pellegrini held off HP Center Victoria’s Jade Hannah and collected a silver medal with a time of 2:11.28. Hannah settled for third and a time of 2:11.49.
Sinclair Larson, representing SwimMAC Carolina, grabbed fourth overall with a time of 2:12.60, while Argentina’s Andrea Berrino took fifth with a time of 2:16.39.
Mariah Denigan of the Northern Kentucky Clippers returned from the 400 IM to finish sixth with a 2:16.50, followed by Pointe-Claire’s Aela Janvier’s 2:17.66.
Erica Sullivan of the Sandpipers of Nevada completed the top eight with a time of 2:18.73.
