Tar Heels Snag Verbal From Versatile PJ Foy Out Of Alaska
NEW COMMIT: The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill has secured a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season from versatile PJ Foy of Auke Bay, Alaska.
He will join Eddie Jin and Nate Hohm in Chapel Hill as a member of the Tar Heels’ Class of 2028.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I think it’s safe to say this boy doesn’t have commitment issues, proud to announce my verbal commitment to University of North Carolina. Looking forward to looking good for UNC GO HEELS!”
Foy, who trains year-round with Glacier Swim Club, most recently won eight gold medals (all of his events) at the Alaska State Championships in April. He also picked up five event wins at Western Zone Seniors: 50 free, 100 free, 100 breast, 200 breast and 100 fly, proving his versatility.
Back in December, Foy raced to 11th in the 100 fly, 13th in the 200 breast, 19th in the 100 free and 23rd in the 50 free at Juniors West.
His best times include:

- 100 free – 43.98
- 200 free – 1:38.15
- 100 fly – 47.69
- 200 fly – 1:48.76
- 100 breast – 55.07
- 200 breast – 1:58.76
- 100 back – 49.73
- 200 back – 1:49.42
- 200 IM – 1:49.79
A rising senior at Thunder Mountain High School, Foy won the 100 fly and 200 free at the 2022 Alaska State Championships after grabbing gold in the 100 breast and 200 IM as a sophomore.
