Tar Heels Snag 2023 Verbal From New York Federation Runner-Up Lucy Walker

NEW COMMIT: The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill has added a new verbal commitment for the fall of 2023 from Lucy Walker of Dobbs Ferry, New York.

She will join Michaela ChokurevaMaren Conze and Ava Muzzy as a member of the Tar Heels’ Class of 2027.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I’m incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill!! I chose UNC for the combination of elite athletics and amazing academic opportunities. A huge thank you to my family, friends, and coaches who have helped me pursue my dreams. I can’t wait to be a Tar Heel!! GO HEELS!”

Walker does her club swimming with Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester (BGNW) and placed 14th in the 200 free at Juniors East back in December and more recently competed at the NCSA Championships. She raced to 10th in both the 100m free and 200m free last summer at Richmond Futures.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 24.43
  • 100 free – 51.21
  • 200 free – 1:49.05
  • 500 free – 4:59.13
  • 100 back – 59.13
  • 200 back – 2:02.51
  • 100 breast – 1:06.86
  • 200 breast – 2:17.18
  • 200 IM – 2:02.02
  • 400 IM – 4:24.90

Currently a junior at Dobbs Ferry High School, Walker placed second in the 100 free and third in the 200 free at the 2021 New York Federation Championships.

Her best times currently rank her third in the 200 free/400 IM, fourth in the 200 breast/500 free, fifth in the 100 free and sixth in the 200 back on the Tar Heels’ lineup.
