Switzerland Summer Long Course Championships: Rare Four-Way Tie for 50 Fly Title; Maria Ugolkova Doubles
TENERO, Switzerland, July 3. THE Switzerland Summer Long Course Championships ended with a bang as a four-way tie gave four men the 50 fly gold medal. Meanwhile, Maria Ugolkova doubled up on the final evening of competition.
An exciting four-way tie for the men's 50 fly title occurred on the final night of swimming. Christian Schneiter, Nico Van Duijin, Maximilien Bon and Adrien Perez all touched in 25.15 to tie for the gold medal in the sprint fly.
Ugolkova topped the women's edition of the 50 fly with a 28.00. Laetitia Perez took second in 28.15, while Melanie Schweiger earned third in 28.34. Ugolkova doubled up with a 57.39 to win the women's 100 free. Corinne Meier took second in 58.94, while Annick van Westendorp rounded out the top three in 59.49.
Lukas Rauftlin won the men's 100 back in 57.85, while Jonathan Massacand earned second in 58.43. Michael Eugene Hallock touched third in 58.62. Florence Sigg snagged the women's 100 back in 1:05.54, while Anouk Hellinga placed second in 1:06.82. Miriam Rihs wound up third in 1:07.33.
Yannick Kaser claimed the men's 200 breast in 2:18.21, while Yves Mauron finished second in 2:19.68. Kilian Bossard placed third in 2:21.02. Stephanie Spahn held off Marina Ribi, 2:35.47 to 2:35.70, for the women's 200 breast title. Jennifer Bovay finished third in 2:37.84.
Alexandre Liess hit the wall in 3:57.51 for the men's 400 free. Jean-Baptiste Febo touched a distant second in 4:05.79, while Simon Rabold finished third in 4:06.21.
