This past weekend, USA Swimming released a new Olympic Trials qualifier list. This list is updated with times swum up to June 7, 2016, meaning that all of the qualifiers that achieved times from the recent Arena Pro Swim Series meets, Longhorn Elite Invite and Tennessee Aquatics June Invitational are included on the list.Listed are 936 male qualifiers and 841 female qualifiers. Considering the closeness of the Olympic Trials (6/26 – 7/3/16), this is likely to be the last preliminary qualifier list released. Click here to Access the List.

It is always impressive when young swimmers qualify to compete in the US Olympic Trials. In fact, just ten swimmers listed in the 13-14 age group qualified for Trials. Of the ten, there are three 13-14 age group swimmers: Tristen Ulett (Dynamo Swim Club), Phoebe Bacon (Nation’s Capital Swim Club) and Alex Walsh (Nashville Aquatic Club), to really watch out for. These three dynamic youngster’s accomplishments have been previously highlighted in Swimming World Magazine’s monthly Up-and-Comers section.

Alex Walsh was highlighted in the October 2015 magazine. In December 2015, she set National Age Group Records in the 100 yard back and 200 IM. She is the highest seed for her age, at 12th in the 200 back.

Phoebe Bacon was highlighted in the May 2016 magazine after winning the 50 LCM backstroke at the NCSA Junior National Championships.

Note: USA Swimming’s Olympic Trials qualifier list includes swimmers in events that they may not be competing in at the Trials. It is merely a list of all of the events every swimmer has accomplished a Trials cut in.
