073 NUTRITION: FALL SNIFFLES—MORE THAN A SEASONAL CHANGE

COACHING
068 SWIMMING TECHNIQUE CONCEPTS: BREASTSTROKE OUTWARD SCULL
by Rod Havriluk
Many swimmers begin the breaststroke arm motion with straight arms so that the hands move above the shoulders into a weak position. A more effective motion is to flex the elbows so that the hands move below the shoulders into a strong position. Swimmers can see and feel the outward scull to better control it. Drills, such as swimming every other stroke of breaststroke without breathing, can help a swimmer master the skills necessary to control the outward scull.
