Swimming Takes the Lead in University of Oregon Voting, But Still Needs Your Votes!
By Phillip Whitten
EUGENE, Ore., October 25. SWIMMING has taken the lead in the voting on the University of Oregon web site to add a women's sport to the university's offerings.
On Monday, when we first ran the story of this vote on SwimInfo, gymnastics was well in the lead, some 1600 votes ahead of swimming. Here is the question on the Oregon web site and the current vote totals:
What current NCAA women's sport would you like Oregon to add (No. of schools sponsoring sport in parenthesis)?
Swimming & Diving (184) – 30.8% (5679 votes)
Gymnastics (64) – 28.0% (5172 votes)
Water Polo (29) – 26.6% (4912 votes)
Swimming now has the lead, but we need swim fans to continue voting. Water Polo moved up three spots to third since Monday.
YOU can help create a new Women's Swimming and Diving program at Oregon by voting at the school's web site below.
