SwimMAC Carolina’s Conall Monahan Will Join Wolfpack with 2020 Verbal to NC State
NEW COMMIT: NC State University has received a new in-state verbal commitment for the 2020-21 season and beyond from Conall Monahan of Charlotte, N.C.
Monahan, who owns five Winter Nationals standards, does his club swimming with SwimMAC Carolina and most recently placed eighth in the 200m back at Indianapolis Speedo Sectionals. He finished fourth in both the 200 IM and 400 IM at the Southern Premier Invitational and took seventh in the latter at Juniors East. This past summer, he raced three events at Junior Nationals.
Also competing for Providence Senior High School, Monahan is a four-time North Carolina 4A State Championship finalist and has earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors. He placed fifth in the 200 IM and 10th in the 100 breast as a junior after finishing seventh and 15th, respectively, in those events during his sophomore season.
He told Swimming World:
“Excited to announce my verbal commitment to study and swim at North Carolina State University. Thank you to my family, friends, and coaches who have helped me along this journey. Can’t wait to be a part of this team. Go PACK”
His best times include:
- 100 breast – 56.95
- 200 breast – 2:03.93
- 200 IM – 1:48.75
- 400 IM – 3:51.09
- 200 back – 1:49.80
Although he’s just on the edge of scoring range at the 2019 ACC Championships, Monahan has continously made improvements each season and will add valuable breaststroke and IM depth when he arrives in Raleigh next fall. He will also join Luke Miller, James Plage, Nick Lawson, Michael Moore and Austin Winchester as members of the Wolfpack’s class of 2024.
