Swim Houston’s Nathaniel Allen Commits to Florida Tech Panthers

NEW COMMIT: Houston, Texas native Nathaniel Allen has made his commitment to the Florida Institute of Technology and will join the Panthers this upcoming fall.

Allen swims year-round with Swim Houston Aquatic Center under head coach Gilbert Legaspi. He most recently competed at the Southern Senior Championships last month where he recorded five lifetime bests and finaled in six events. He raced four events at NCSAs last summer after earning 100% personal best times and registering five top-10 finishes at the Gulf Senior Championships. A current senior at Strake Jesuit College Prep, Allen also competed at the UIL Texas 6A Region 4 Championships during his junior season.

He told Swimming World:

Right away, I fell for the team’s familial culture and their overall high-energy as they pushed each other to be the best they could be. I can’t wait to join them next year to continue my academic and athletic career at Florida Tech! Go Panthers!”

His best times include:

  • 100 back – 53.73
  • 200 back – 1:54.17
  • 200 IM – 1:57.09
  • 400 IM – 4:09.32
  • 100 free – 48.10
  • 200 free – 1:43.14
  • 500 free – 4:50.33

Allen will make an immediate impact in the back and IM groups when he suits up for the Panthers as a member of the class of 2023. He would’ve scored in the B-final of the 400 IM, 100 back and 200 back at the 2018 Sunshine Championships where Florida Tech finished third overall in the team standings.
