NEW COMMIT: Helsingborg, Sweden’s Emil Hassling has verbally committed to Louisiana State University and will suit up for the Tigers at the start of the 2020-21 season.

Hassling swims year-round with Landskrona Swim Team under head coach David Söderstjerna and has also represented Sweden internationally. He most recently raced three events at the FINA World Cup in Berlin earlier this month where he finished 12th in the 400m IM. He earned gold in the 400m IM and silver in the 200m IM at the SM/Para-SM/JSM meet this past summer and recorded four best times at Swim Open Stockholm in April.

He told Swimming World:

”I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Louisiana State University!! Thank you to my family, friends, and coaches for helping me get to where I am today. I really look forward to next fall, Geaux Tigers!!!”

In LCM, his best times include:

  • 200m IM – 2:04.32
  • 400m IM – 4:28.51
  • 50m breast – 29.31
  • 100m breast – 1:04.71
  • 200m breast – 2:20.10

In SCY, those times convert to:

  • 50 breast – 25.29
  • 100 breast – 56.03
  • 200 breast – 2:01.60
  • 200 IM – 1:47.78
  • 400 IM – 3:52.26

When he arrives in Baton Rouge as a member of the class of 2024, Hassling will add his talents to a training group that’ll include David Boylan and Luca Pfyffer. His best times (converted to yards) are already on the brink of scoring range at the SEC Championships and he’ll be a valuable addition to the Tigers’ lineup.
