Summer McIntosh Adds Another World Record in the 400 IM at 4:25.87
Summer McIntosh added another world record to her lengthy and growing resume Saturday night, blasting time of 4:25.87 in the 400 individual medley.
The swim takes down the world record set in 2016 by Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu at 4:26.36. McIntosh was 10 years old at the time.

It’s the second world record of the week at Bell Canadian Trials for McIntosh, who also took down the 400 free world record on Tuesday. She’s also bettered her world junior record in the 200 fly and the national record in 200 IM. She still has the 200 free to swim on the meet’s final day Sunday.

Second in the swim Saturday was Sydney Pickrem, who was under the FINA cut in 4:39.81. Mabel Zavaros was third in 4:42.27, also a FINA A cut.
In other action Saturday:
Kylie Masse and Ingrid Wilm added additional swims at worlds by going 1-2 in the 200 backstroke. Masse won in 2:07.13, while Wilm was second in 2:10.19. Wilm had won the 100, Masse the 50 earlier this week.
Hugh McNeill won the men’s 200 back in 1:58.07, a FINA A cut. He was four seconds quicker than in the morning and went from sixth in prelims to the win at night. Lorne Wiggington made it another teen to make the jump to world standards, qualifying in the 500 IM with a winning time of 4:16.14. That’s more than another second under the A standard.
