Stanford’s Regan Smith, Carolina Sculti Repeat in Pac-12 Weekly Honors

The Stanford duo of Regan Smith and Carolina Sculti have been named the Pac-12 Women’s Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for the second straight week in Wednesday’s release of Pac-12 weekly honors.

On the men’s side, USC’s Ivan Puskovitch is the Men’s Swimmer of the Week, along with Utah senior diver Tony Chen.

Smith led Stanford to a sweep of UCLA and USC in dual meets with five total wins. Against UCLA, she won the 200 freestyle in 1:48.37, the 200 backstroke in 1:55.10 and the 200 individual medley in 1:59.65. She showed her depth against USC by branching out to claim the 100 fly (52.62) and 100 back (51.51). She also helped Stanford’s 200 medley relay pick up a win against USC.

Sculti was a big part of those wins, tallying 26 points across the two meets. Against USC, she swept the diving events, tallying a season-high 325.28 on 1-meter. Her score of 368.48 on 3-meter was her second-best of the season. Sculti was also second in both events against UCLA.

Also considered for the swimming honor were Isabelle Stadden of California, UCLA’s Eva Carlson, Laticia-Leigh Transom of USC, Utah’s Summer Stanfield and Washington State’s Chloe Larson. Other diving nominees include Hannah Butler of UCLA, USC’s Nike Agunbiade and Lizzy DeCecco of Utah.

Puskovitch, a junior from Pennsylvania, won the 500 free in 4:27.77 and the 1,650 free in 15:38.05 at the UC-Santa Barbara Invitational last weekend. Puskovitch also finished third in the 400 IM.

Chen swept the diving events in Utah’s meet with in-state rival BYU. He posted his second-highest score on 1-meter at 337.50 points. He added the win on 3-meter via 356.10 points.

Utah’s Baylor Lewis was also nominated for men’s swimmer of the week.
