The pre-scratch psych sheet for the 2023 Pac-12 Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships has been released and it leaves a lot of questions, mostly surrounding the Stanford Cardinal.

Stanford’s Torri Huske has the top seed in the 200 IM, 50 free, 100 butterfly, 100 free. The 200 IM and 50 free are back-to-back, so the Cardinal will have to make a decision there.

Meanwhile, Stanford’s Claire Curzan is the top seed in the 100 and 200 backstroke, second in the 50 free and 100 butterfly and fifth in the 100 free, making it likely that she goes the 50, then both backstroke events with Huske the top seed in the butterfly, though Stanford coach Greg Meehan has been known to put some different combinations together.

Taylor Ruck is the top seed in the 200 free and also one of the top seeds in the 50 free, 100 free and 200 backstroke. The final day she could go either the 200 back or 100 free.

The outcomes this weekend could affect the NCAA lineup for the Cardinal, too. Meehan has a lot of options with a lot of swimmers, a great problem for a coach to have.

USC will have to made some decisions with some of its stars as well. Isabelle Odgers is one of the top seeds in both breaststroke events and both IM events. She won the Pac-12 title in the 200 breaststroke last year.

Meet info

Big 12

The Big 12 Championships is predictably loaded with Texas talent in every event, just like the Stanford women – but even more depth.

The Longhorns generally load up on the freestyle events, just as they do at the NCAA Championships, and this meet is no different. The Longhorns have all the top seeds, and in most event the top two or more.

Daniel Krueger is in the sprints, and the Foster brothers are in their usual IM spots. Luke Hobson leads the distance freestyle events and Caspar Corbeau is anchoring the breaststroke.

For the women, Erica Sullivan is swimming the mild, the 500 and the 200 free. Lydia Jacoby will swim the breaststroke events and the 50 free.

Olivia Bray is swimming the 500 in addition to her usual butterfly events.

The Longhorns have a loaded 200 IM with Kelly Pash, Emma Sticklen and Dakota Luther. Pash will also swim the 400 IM and 100 free.

It could make for some interesting developments for NCAAs for the Texas women as well as Stanford based on how the conference championships go.
