Porter, a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, had a great summer, culminating with a gold in the 100 freestyle at the Austin Futures meet. Representing Flower Mound High School, she finished fourth in the 200 free (1:51.01) at the 2015 Texas 6A State Championships.
Mizzou finished fifth at the 2016 SEC Championships. At that meet, a finals swim in the 100 freestyle required dipping under 50 seconds. The Tigers had two swimmers, senior Anna Patterson and sophomore Rachel Hayden earn second swims in the event. On the school’s fifth place 400 freestyle relay, all of the swimmers split under 50. It took a 23.18 to make finals of the 50 freestyle and the Tigers had four scoring swimmers in that event.
