Sprinter Olivia Matson Selects Auburn For 2025-26

NEW COMMIT: Powell, Ohio native Olivia Matson will head south for her college career, as the Junior National qualifier announced her verbal commitment to Auburn University beginning in Fall 2025.

She will join Nora WeberLilly Gault Abdella and Abigail Heizer as a member of the Tigers’ Class of 2029.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at Auburn University!! I want to thank my family, friends, teammates and coaches for supporting me throughout this process. I would also like to thank the staff at Auburn for giving me this amazing opportunity!!!”

A sprint freestyler, Matson trains year-round with Dublin Community Swim Team and won the 50m free this past summer at Ohio Long Course Senior Championships. That was after she won the B-final of that event at Columbus Sectionals. She also raced the 50/100 free at Juniors East last December.

Her best times include:

  • 50 free – 22.89
  • 100 free – 50.76
  • 200 free – 1:55.01

A rising senior at Jerome High School, Matson earned a pair of silver medals in the 50 free and 100 free at the 2024 Ohio DI State Championships. She finished second in the 50 and 10th in the 100 free during her sophomore season at the state meet and second and sixth, respectively, as a freshman.
