Sprinter Mike Rice Pledges 2026 Verbal Commitment To Auburn
NEW COMMIT: Auburn University has picked up a new verbal commitment for the 2026-27 season and beyond from sprinter Mike Rice out of Waxhaw, North Carolina.
Rice’s best 50 free time is currently the fastest time in this class.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swimming and academic career at Auburn University. This amazing opportunity wouldn’t be possible without the support of my dad, mom, sister, friends and my amazing coaches along the way. A big thank you to Coach Ryan, Vlad and the whole team for making me feel at home on the plains. WarEagle”
Rice does his club swimming with Mecklenburg Swim Association after previously competing for SwimMAC Carolina. He capped off his long course season by winning the 50m/100m free as well as taking second in the 200m free and 200m IM at Minneapolis Futures.
Back in March, Rice earned gold in the 100m free and silver in the 200m IM at ESSZ Speedo Spring Championships.
His best times include:
- 50 free – 19.79
- 100 free – 44.18
- 200 free – 1:37.13
- 100 fly – 48.49
- 200 IM – 1:48.10
Currently a junior at Marvin Ridge High School, Rice took fourth in the 100 free and fifth in the 200 free at the 2024 North Carolina 4A State Championships. He placed 10th in the 100 free at the state meet during his freshman season.
Auburn finished second at the 2024 Southeastern Conference Championships.
