Sprinter Max Goettsch Chooses Texas For College Career

NEW COMMIT: The University of Texas has secured a new verbal commitment for its growing Class of 2029 from sprint freestyler and U.S. Open qualifier Max Goettsch of Naperville, Illinois.

He will join John Simmons, Clem Camacho and Evan Conti in Austin as a member of the Longhorns’ Class of 2025.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I am thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Texas! I want to thank my family, Coach Mike, Coach Dave, the @fmcaquatic coaching staff and my teammates. I would also like to thank Coach Eddie Reese and Coach @wyatt.collins for this amazing opportunity!”

Goettsch does his club swimming with FMC Aquatic Club and most recently earned three best times at Westmont Sectionals. During the short course season, he placed sixth in the 200m free at NCSA Spring Championships and won the 200 free at Illinois Senior Championships.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 20.41
  • 100 free – 44.42
  • 200 free – 1:37.61

A rising senior at Naperville Central High Schoo, Goettsch placed fourth in the 100 free and fifth in the 200 free at the 2024 Illinois Boys’ State Championships. He sprinted to 11th in the 50 free during his sophomore season at the state meet.
