NEW COMMIT: Junior National qualifier Jayson Ross of Vienna, Virginia, has pledged his verbal commitment to the University of Georgia and will arrive in Athens in the fall of 2025.

He told Swimming World:

“I’m pleased to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Georgia. All thanks goes to God, my parents, my coaches, and teammates. Thank you to Coach Neil, Coach Mike and the entire UGA swim and dive staff for this great opportunity. GO DAWGS!”

Ross, who does his club swimming with Machine Aquatics, is a talented sprint freestyler who placed seventh in the 50m free this past summer at NCSA LCM Championships. He earned silver in that event at the Potomac Valley SCY Championships back in March before going on to take 17th in his signature race at the NCSA SCY Championships.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 20.42
  • 100 free – 46.66
  • 50m free – 23.94
  • 100m free – 54.01

Currently a junior at De Matha Catholic High School, Ross placed third in the 100 fly and fifth in the 50 free at the 2023 WMPSSDL Championships. He also raced to fourth in the 50 free and 11th in the 100 free at the Metro Championships during his sophomore season.
