Sprint Freestyler Lucy Ho Commits to Miami For Fall of 2020
New Commit: The University of Miami received a verbal commitment from sprint freestyler Lucy Ho for the fall of 2020. The Franklin, Indiana native made a late commitment to join coach Andy Kershaw and company this fall. She will join Emma Sundstrand, Korlan Amirkhanova and Savannah Barr on campus at Coral Gables this fall.
Ho is a rising sprint freestyler in Indiana as she qualified for the Indiana high school state championships individually for the first time in her career this past season, reaching the B-Final in the 50 freestyle with a 23.85 in preliminaries. Ho is not far behind Miami’s best sprinter this season Sydney Knapp at 23.27. Ho also was a 52.32 in the 100 freestyle this past season leading off her team’s 400 freestyle relay which finished seventh in the state of Indiana. Her team Franklin Community finished third at Indiana high school state championships in her senior year and was second in her junior year in 2019.
Miami will only be losing two seniors next year and Ho is a rising talent for the Hurricanes. She dropped over a second in both her 50 and 100 free in her senior season and could be a valuable asset on relays for the Hurricanes moving forward.
Lucy Ho swims for Franklin Regional Swim Team in Indiana under head coach Zach DeWitt. She also has solid long course times of 28.17 and 1:00.45 in the 50 and 100 freestyle.
