Spitz To The Rescue
Left Sidebar
Swimming legend Mark Spitz huddled with FINA leaders in Perth, Australia during the World Championships in January, demanding to play a major role in cleaning up the Chinese drug scandal. Swimming World has learned that Spitz asked to be appointed a voting member of the FINA Bureau as well as its official spokesman. No response yet from the “boys in blue.”
Spitz, 48, a member and assistant coach of the UCLA Bruin Masters, was critical of FINA’s do-nothing attitude toward the endless scandal of Chinese doping. “The only time these guys open their mouths,” he lamented, “is to stuff more food in it.”
