Southern Methodist Gets First 2021 Verbal from Junior National Qualifier Angus Corbeau
NEW COMMIT: Southern Methodist University has received their first verbal commitment for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Angus Corbeau of Portland, Ore., who will arrive in Dallas as a member of the class of 2025.
He told Swimming World:
“I am beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to further my swimming and academic career at SMU for the class of 2025. I wouldn’t be the swimmer or person I am today without the influence and support of my family, friends and coaches. Catch me on the Hilltop. #PonyUp”
A talented breaststroker and IMer, Corbeau swims year-round with Tualatin Hills Swim Club and owns three Junior National cuts. He earned three best times at Juniors West in December and finaled in the 200 breast at Mount Hood Sectionals in 2019. Last summer, he finished 18th in the 200m breast at Mount Hood Futures.
His best times include:
- 100 breast – 57.47
- 200 breast – 2:03.95
- 200 IM – 1:52.17
- 400 IM – 3:56.47
Also competing for Sunset High School, Corbeau placed ninth in the 100 breast at the Oregon 6A State Championships during his freshman season. He has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors for his efforts.
