South Carolina Adds Verbal Commitments From Mitchell Gariepy and Emma Walker
NEW COMMITS: The University of South Carolina has received verbal commitments from Mitchell Gariepy and Emma Walker to swim for the team beginning with the 2018-2019 season.
Also verbally committed to the Gamecocks’ Class of 2022 are Mari Kraus, Rachel Lee, Nathan Walton, and Garrison Johnson.
Mitchell Gariepy
Gariepy is from Wellesley, MA where he is a senior at Wellesley Senior High School and swims for Shawmut Swim Club. He’s a breaststroker and strong IMer. He’s a Winter and Summer Junior National qualifier. Among his top SCY times are:
- 50 Breast 25.73
- 100 Breast 55.53
- 200 Breast 2:02.93
- 200 IM 1:50.88
- 100 Fly 49.70
Gariepy wrote,
“I’m excited to announce my verbal commitment to the University of South Carolina. As soon as I landed in Columbia, SC I felt at home. The guys on the team are fast, friendly and a lot of fun. I was very impressed with the entire coaching staff and feel it’s a place I can continue to improve while getting a great education. Emma Walker
Walker is a senior at SwimMAC Carolina and Myers Park High School. She’ll join her club teammate, Lee in making the short move south.
