Sophie Haise, Ali Tyler Will Suit Up for George Mason University in Fall 2021
Sophie Haise, Ali Tyler lend verbal commitments to George Mason.
NEW COMMITS: George Mason University has officially opened up their Class of 2025 recruiting after receiving a pair of verbal commitments for the 2021-22 season and beyond from Charlottesville, Va. native Sophie Haise and Ali Tyler of Cheshire, Conn.
SOPHIE HAISE
She told Swimming World:
“I am so EXCITED and blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at George Mason University. Thank you to all my friends, family, and coaches that supported me along the way! Go Patriots!!!”
A talented sprint freestyler, Haise swims year-round with Atlantic Coast Athletic Clubs and most recently raced three events at Virginia Seniors after recording a pair of top-10 finishes at the Bruins Invite in January. Last summer, she competed in four races at Virginia LCM Seniors.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 24.67
- 100 free – 54.95
Also competing for Albemarle High School, Haise is a three-time Virginia Class 5A State Championship qualifier. She finished 16th in the 50 free during her rookie campaign.
ALI TYLER
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at George Mason University. Thank you to all family, friends, and coaches who have helped me through this process. Go Patriots!”
Primarily a freestyler and backstroker, Tyler does her club swimming with Cheshire Y Sea Dog Swim Club and is a U.S. Open qualifier. She won the 100 free and was the 100 fly runner-up at Connecticut Seniors in February. She finished ninth in the 100m back and 400m IM at Connecticut LCM Seniors last summer before going on to register four top-18 finishes at YMCA LCM Nationals.
Her best times include:
- 50 free – 23.61
- 100 free – 50.39
- 200 free – 1:50.50
- 50 back – 26.14
- 100 back – 54.85
- 200 back – 1:58.60
A rising senior at Cheshire High School, she finished fourth in the 100 back and fifth in the 200 free at the Connecticut Open State Championships as a freshman. Tyler has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors twice in her career thus far.
