Social Kick Podcast: Regan Smith Shares Insights on Five-Medal Olympic Haul (Video Interview)

A month has elapsed since Regan Smith collected five medals at the Olympic Games in Paris, a haul that lifted her career total to eight pieces of hardware from the biggest event in her sport. The veteran was the silver medalist in three individual events – 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke and 200 butterfly – and added a pair of relay medals, including gold as a member of the United States’ 400 medley relay.

Smith recently joined the Social Kick Podcast for an hour-long interview that delved into her Paris performances and how she managed the move from Arizona to Texas when her coach, Bob Bowman, made the jump from Arizona State University to the University of Texas. Her work with Bowman has clearly paid dividends over the past few years, and Smith discusses her trust in Bowman and what he has planned for the coming years.

Not surprising, part of Smith’s interview with Social Kick hosts Luke Paddington, John Mullen and Bryan Lundquist focuses on how she has strengthened her mental approach to the sport. She now calls herself more of a “go with the flow” athlete, which is a shift from the past and has enabled Smith to handle high-pressure situations.
