Six-Time TAPPS State Champion Emily Kitayama Verbals to Notre Dame
NEW COMMIT: The University of Notre Dame has received a new verbal commitment for the 2024-25 season and beyond from Emily Kitayama of San Antonion, Texas.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Notre Dame! I am beyond excited to be a part of the @ndswimdive family. I want to thank everyone who has supported me, especially my parents and present and future coaches and teamates. So ready for the next 4!! GO IRISH!”
Kitayama does her club swimming with Alamo Area Aquatic Association and most recently competed at College Station Sectionals where she finished third in the 200 fly, eighth in the 200 free and 10th in the 100 fly. She raced five individual events at Juniors West back in December and placed 17th in the 200m fly at Junior Nationals last summer.
Her best times include:
- 100 free – 51.18
- 200 free – 1:50.09
- 100 fly – 54.26
- 200 fly – 1:58.98
- 200 IM – 2:04.31
Currently a junior at TMI Episcopal, Kitayama won the 100 fly and 200 free at the TAPPS Division 2 State Championships in 2023 after earning gold in the 200/500 free as a sophomore. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American took gold in the 100 fly and 200 free as a freshman, going 6-for-6 so far in individual races.
