Six-Time Oregon 6A State Finalist Emma Matous Lends Verbal to UCLA for 2021
NEW COMMIT: Vancouver, Wash. native Emma Matous has verbally committed to UCLA and will arrive on campus in the fall of 2021.
She will suit up for the Bruins as a member of the class of 2025 along with Joanie Cash, Mia Chang, Morgan Hawes, Taylor Schaffer, Paige MacEachern, Eva Carlson, Ana Jih-Schiff, Kathryn Lundh, and Ashley Stenstrom.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am super excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim and study at UCLA! Thank you to all my coaches, family and friends who have helped me to get here. I can’t wait to live in LA! GO BRUINS!”
A versatile swimmer who is a Junior National qualifier, Matous swims year-round with Tualatin Hills Swim Club and finished 21st in the 400 IM at Juniors West in December. Last summer, she earned bronze in the 200m IM at Mount Hood Sectionals before going on to record a trio of top-15 finishes at Mount Hood Futures.

- 100 free – 52.63
- 200 free – 1:53.28
- 100 back – 58.05
- 200 back – 2:02.22
- 100 breast – 1:04.22
- 200 breast – 2:18.74
- 200 IM – 2:03.34
- 400 IM – 4:21.26
Also competing for Jesuit High School, Matous is a six-time Oregon 6A State Championship finalist. The USA Swimming Scholastic All-American finished third in the 200 IM and placed fourth in the 100 breast as a junior while taking fifth in both of those events during her sophomore season.
