Six-Time North Carolina State Champion Emme Nelson Sends Verbal to Texas A&M
NEW COMMIT: Breaststroker and IMer Emme Nelson of Charlotte, N.C. has announced her verbal commitment to Texas A&M University and will arrive in College Station in the fall of 2020.
Nelson, who owns four Summer Juniors standards, does her club swimming with SwimMAC Carolina and most recently placed 16th in the 200m breast at Junior Nationals this past summer. Last winter she raced both breaststroke events at Winter Nationals, finished 13th in the 200 breast at Juniors East, and recorded three top-8 finishes at Indianapolis Sectionals.
Also competing for Community School of Davidson, Nelson has won the 100 breast and 200 IM at the North Carolina 1A/2A State Championships each of her three high school seasons thus far. Last season, she was named the meet’s Most Outstanding Swimmer after setting a new class mark in the 200 IM. She has also earned USA Swimming Scholastic All-American honors twice in her career thus far.
Her best times include:
- 100 breast – 1:01.76
- 200 breast – 2:14.55
- 200 IM – 2:00.70
- 400 IM – 4:20.57
When she suits up for the Aggies as a member of the class of 2024, Nelson will add her talents to a training group led by Anna Belousova and Caroline Theil. She would’ve placed in the C-final of the 100 breast at the 2019 SEC Championships and is just on the brink of scoring range in the 200 breast and 200 IM.
