Simone Sabbioni Moves to 8th in World in 50 Back
Simone Sabbioni put up a world-ranked time in the men’s 50-meter back at the Italian National Championships.
Simone Sabbioni jumped to eighth in the world rankings with a time of 24.99 in the men’s 50-meter back. Niccolo Bonacchi placed second just behind with a 25.00 for ninth in the world. Stefano Pizzamiglio earned third in 25.37.
Arianna Castiglioni touched out Ilaria Scarcella, 1:07.55 to 1:07.66, in the women’s 100-meter breast. Martina Carraro wound up taking third overall in 1:09.45.
Francesco Pavone topped the men’s 200-meter fly in 1:58.03. Matteo Pelizzari hit the wall second in 1:58.23 with Giacomo Carini earning third in 1:58.89.
Silvia di Pietro captured the women’s 50-meter free title in 25.04. Giorgia Biondani finished second in the sprint with a 25.15. Erika Ferraioli posted a third-place time of 25.16.
Diletta Carli won the women’s 800-meter free in 8:31.54. Aurora Ponsele placed second in 8:33.45 with Linda Caponi picking up third in 8:40.35.
Luca Pizzini took home the men’s 200-meter breast title in 2:10.97 with Flavio Bizzarri placing second in 2:11.59. Edoardo Giorgetti took third in 2:13.01.
Luisa Trombetti snagged the women’s 200-meter IM title in 2:13.42. Laura Letrari finished second in 2:13.88 with Ilaria Cusinato picking up third in 2:14.35.
Filippo Magnini won the men’s 200-meter free in 1:48.22 to close out the meet. Marco Belotti took second in 1:48.52 with Mitch D’Arrigo claiming third in 1:49.07.
