Just when spectators thought she couldn’t get any faster, Simone Manuel threw up a 24.41 to take first in the last women’s final of the TYR Pro Series in Bloomington. Worthy of the sixth fastest time in the world this year, Manuel left the field mid-pool to send rumblings throughout the swim community.
She was proceeded by Julie Meyen who turned in a 25.13 for second, while Margo Geer’s 25.24 was worthy of third. Kylee Alons broke into the top four with a time of 25.27, edging out Ky-lee Perry (25.36) and Anika Apostalon (25.41) at the finish. Mallory Comerford eclipsed sixth place by a narrow margin, settling for seventh with a time of 25.47, while Daria Pyshnenko closed out the women’s schedule with a 26.29.
