Silvia Di Pietro, Bonacchi Sprint to Finish in Final Day of Hungary National Championships
The final day of the Hungary National Championships produced a variety of winners including Peter Bernek, Zsuzsanna Jakabos, Niccolo Bonacchi and Silvia Di Pietro, among others.
Benjamin Gratz led the men through prelims of the men’s 400-meter IM finishing with a time of 4:24.06. Peter Bernek snagged the second-place seed with a 4:24.51, while Daniel Dudas rounded out the top three with a 4:26.26.
Bernek dropped a whopping 8.27 seconds to claim first in finals with a final time of 4:16.24. His time bumped him up to the twentieth spot in the world rankings for the 400-meter IM in 2015. Gratz finished second with a time of f4:16.47. Ioannis Drymonakos moved up to third with a finishing time of 4:22.02.
Reka Gyorgy grabbed the first-place seed in prelims of the women’s 400-meter IM touching in 4:50.20. Carlotta Toni and Boglarka Kapas fought for the second-place seed finishing with times only .02 seconds apart. Toni took the second-place seed with a 4:50.46, while Kapas finished third with a 4:50.48.
Zsuzsanna Jakabos finished first in the 400-meter IM with a quick 4:42.23, missing her 2015 world best of 4:37.38 by 4.85 seconds. Gyorgy slid to second with a final time of 4:43.67, while Kapas rounded out the top three with a 4:44.52.
Niccolo Bonacchi claimed the win in finals of the men’s 50-meter back with a time of 25.35. Richard Bohus finished second overall with a final time of 25.75, while Youseff Ahmed Abdall Mohamed was third with a time of 25.81.
Dalma Sebestyen won the women’s 50-meter breaststroke with a time of 32.22. Anna Sztankovics and Evelyn Verraszto raced for second, but it was Sztankovics who won out, touching the wall in 32.28. Verraszto took third with a 32.29.
Gold in the women’s 50-meter free went to Silvia Di Pietro who touched with a final time of 25.10. Jakabos claimed second with a time of 25.37, while Erika Ferraoli was a close third touching in 25.39.
Samuel Pizzetti blazed to first in the men’s 1500-meter free with a time of 15:24.45. Kristof Rasovsky took second with a 15:40.19, while Daniel Szekelyi claimed third with a 15:47.01.
