Silantiev Chalks Up Another in Canet
CANET, FRANCE, May 28. Ukraine's Denis Silantiev slammed his competitors again on the Mare Nostrum tour, this time winning the 100 meter fly in 52.91. His performance highlighted the third day of competition in Canet, the third stop on the Mare Nostrum circuit.
Russia's Alex Popov easily took the 50 free in 22.53, while Australia's Grant McGregor won the 200 IM in 2:02.73.
Romania's Camelia Potec took the women's 200m freestyle in 1:59.59, holding off a strong challenge by the 1998 world champion, Claudia Poll of Costa Rica (2:00.25).
In the absence of Hungary's Agnes Kovacs, South African Sarah Poewe had no trouble winning the 100m breast (1:09.39). Denmark's Mette Jacobsen took the 100 fly in 1:00.09, while Ukraine's Yana Klochkova remained unbeaten on the tour, this time winning the 200 IM by five full seconds in 2:16.40.
