Seton Hall Postpones Athletic Events Due To Tragedy
South Orange, NJ – The Seton Hall University men’s and women’s basketball games with Syracuse University, originally scheduled for Saturday, January 22, have been postponed due to the tragic fire which claimed the lives of three students in a residence hall on the Seton Hall campus on Wednesday.
The men’s basketball team was scheduled to play at Syracuse’s Carrier Dome on Saturday at noon. The women’s basketball team was slated to host Syracuse at Walsh Gym on Saturday at 2 p.m. No decisions on the rescheduling of these games have been made as of yet.
Seton Hall’s men’s and women’s swim teams will not participate in a tri-meet at Rutgers with St. John’s, scheduled for Saturday. The men’s and women’s track teams will also not participate in the Greater Boston Championships, slated for Sunday, January 23.
“In light of the tragedy on campus and the overwhelming impact it has had on everyone in the Seton Hall community, we have determined that our athletics teams will not compete in any events this weekend,” said Jeff Fogelson, director of athletics. “We appreciate the understanding and support of our BIG EAST conference partners and regret the disruptions to their campuses.”
